Purpose:

The purpose of this web site is to provide the U.S. Census Bureau with a secure means of collecting censuses and surveys over the Internet. If you are looking for information and products produced by the U.S. Census Bureau please go to our primary web site at: http://www.census.gov .

Normal Hours of Availability:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, EST/EDT.

Note: Wednesday mornings 7:00 am to 8:00 am EST/EDT the system may be unavailable for regular system maintenance.

(Except for maintenance, the web site should be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.)

Security:

Information security is the primary objective of this web site. The security design this web site was developed for, and used during, 'Census 2000'. The design was reviewed and approved by both the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST). All sensitive information collected or distributed via the Internet will be by means of Secure Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (https) using secure socket librarys (ssl) for encryption.
